'High pollution and high energy consumption' is the impression that most people in China have of the cement industry, but the guidance on energy conservation and emission reduction for the cement industry released this time clearly affirms the ability of cement enterprises to collaborate in the disposal of urban household waste and urban sludge. Industry insiders point out that collaborative treatment of urban household waste and sludge is the key to the transformation of cement enterprises.
At present, the technology of using cement kilns to treat urban household waste and sludge has matured, and some cement companies have also launched corresponding production lines. According to Kong Xiangzhong, Secretary General of the Cement Industry Association, several listed companies such as Conch Cement, Tongli Cement, Jidong Cement, Huaxin Cement, and Jinyu Co., Ltd. have explored and planned the use of cement kilns to synergistically dispose of household waste, sewage sludge from domestic sewage plants, polluted soil, and toxic and harmful solid waste that can be utilized, and have also built related treatment projects.
Some cement companies in the surrounding areas of some cities have started to make profits from their waste treatment projects, "Kong Xiangzhong said. Cement companies in big cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou have a high initiative in launching urban household waste and sludge treatment projects. He believes that the pressure of sludge and household waste from water plants in big cities is relatively high, and is willing to provide high subsidies to cement companies that handle sludge and household waste. Cement companies can also achieve profitability, and their initiative is relatively high.
However, at present, cement companies have not launched large-scale urban waste treatment projects, and their operational models, subsidies, and other aspects are still in the exploratory stage. According to research conducted by Guojin Securities, the Ministry of Construction had already held consultations with relevant cement equipment companies in early December and is expected to receive substantial technical support in the future. Once supported by funding (or tax exemptions), this technology is expected to quickly roll out on cement lines across the country
Beneficial for equipment manufacturers
According to the Summary Table of Key Special Projects for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction in the Cement Industry, during the 12th Five Year Plan period, a waste treatment capacity of 12 million tons should be formed around the city. If we estimate based on the annual processing capacity of 100000 tons of Tongling Hailuo, a total of 120 such treatment facilities need to be built during the 12th Five Year Plan period, with an estimated construction cost of 60-70 million yuan per facility. The overall market size is expected to reach 7.2-98 billion yuan.
Guojin Securities believes that the transformation of cement companies into emerging environmental protection industries directly benefits related equipment companies. The relevant person in charge of Sinoma International introduced that Sinoma International has been conducting research and development on key technologies, equipment, and system integration for the disposal of waste using cement kilns for more than a decade. Currently, the cement burning system, waste and cement kiln interface equipment, and pre sorting equipment for urban household waste can achieve complete equipment self-sufficiency.
The use of cement kilns to dispose of solid waste will be an important area of concern for Sinoma International in the future. "According to the above-mentioned person from Sinoma International, Sinoma International has established a dedicated subsidiary to communicate with cement companies and promote solutions for the treatment of solid waste such as urban household waste and sludge.
It is reported that currently, Sinoma International only has five orders in the Nanjing area, including the first phase of the cement kiln collaborative treatment of urban sludge project for two 5000t/d new dry process cement production lines of Xinjiang Tianshan Cement Co., Ltd., the comprehensive utilization of urban sludge 5000t/d cement clinker production line of Shaanxi Shengwei Building Materials Group Co., Ltd., and the comprehensive utilization of urban sludge 4000t/d clinker cement production line of Hebei Kuangfeng Cement Co., Ltd. The above-mentioned individuals believe that with the implementation of policies, the initiative of enterprises to handle urban solid waste projects has increased, and the order volume of enterprises is expected to increase.
